The Barrow Boys
Saturday, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Barrow Boys formed in April 2007. Troy and Aaron have been in various groups since 2002 - with Troy writing original songs with lyrics and Aaron writing ridiculously complicated instrumentals. Mike Zimmerman is an accomplished jazz drummer and Todd Prusin an experienced bass player; both joined us in 2007 to form the current line-up. http://www.reverbnation.com/barrowboys |
The Avondale Playboys
Saturday, 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Avondale Playboys play lonesome, heartbroke rock and roll. Brought together in early 2010 by a mutual love of Big Star, they favor a traditional duo set-up alternating between acoustic, telecaster, and bass. Mike and Mike write classic country and rock songs. Both songwriters have a clear and true voice in their writing. Mike M. leans more towards a stark, story-song tradition, while Mike H. supplies more of the three-chord rockers and slight power-pop flavor. www.myspace.com/avondaleplayboys |
Scott Kelly
Saturday, 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Scott Kelly wrote his first song at the age of seven and has been performing, teaching, writing, and recording music for more than 20 years. Half Stitched Saturday, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. After toiling away for years in the dank, smoky bars of Georgia, Scarlet Stitch breaks onto the rock scene in 2010 with their debut album, CrankMojo. Stovall Saturday, 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Stovall was started by close friends and Atlanta music scene veterans Hannibal Heredia, Kevin Elrod, and Mims Rogers (The Flinch, The Valentines) whose desire was to present a style in the vein of country music they heard growing up. Always performing an energetic live act, the band creates a sound that has been described as “Cash on Clash”: convincing classic country filled with pop hooks played by musicians raised on punk ethics. Songs can reveal soul, bluegrass, rock and straight ahead county overtones but regardless they all resound as American music. http://stovallband.com/ |
The Serenaders Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Serenaders blend an uncannily upbeat attitude with visions of Buck Owens’ and Johnny Cash’s guitars dancing in their heads to create their modern retrobilly sound. Born and raised in places as far reaching as the East Coast of North America, the Serenaders’ sense of blending the traditional and the modern comes naturally. Unlike the early Beatles, the Serenaders write all their own material. Despite being abjectly mirthful and light-hearted, the Serenaders give their all at every show, knockin’ ‘em dead every time around. www.facebook.com/TheSerenaders |
Jeremy Ray Sunday, 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. A 27-year-old singer-songwriter, Jeremy Ray is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, and has been fronting bands for more than 10 years. From humble beginnings in punk rock, through experimental indie rock, all the way to country, blues, and folk, Jeremy Ray left South Carolina for the big city life of Atlanta. Here he formed the ever-changing and exciting Gonzo Orchestra, a project featuring a rotating cast of close friends and musicians from all over South Carolina and Georgia. Whether solo or with a full band, Jeremy Ray brings high energy, heartfelt true stories to every sweaty show. It is the blues, played like you never got that punk rock all the way out of your system. www.myspace.com/jeremybrandonray |
