Find family-friendly
entertainment, activities, and events for children of all ages by
children of all ages! The Kid Zone features music, dance, crafts,
storytelling, and activities. Kid
Zone hours are the same as Festival hours. Attractions are subject to
change. Some attractions have limited hours. Ticket Concession in
Commercial Row will have Activity Tickets, required for premium
attractions.
Kid Zone attractions are located at Margaret Mitchell House. Find
signage labeling six distinct areas as Peachtree Grove, Front Lawn,
Lower Lawn, Front Porch, Upstairs Parlor, and Commercial Row.

Partner tents (front lawn) feature activities organized by the
Festival’s Cultural Alliance Partner, The Atlanta History Center’s
Margaret Mitchell House. Confirmed partners include:

Peachtree Grove - Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Georgia Piedmont Region K9 Search and
Rescue is a volunteer team dispatched by law enforcement to
assist in locating lost or missing persons in urban, wilderness,
and water environments. Stop by their booth in the Kid Zone to
meet the search dogs and learn what to do if your child becomes
lost. Limited hours.

Commercial Row - Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Participants decorate cookies or cupcakes
with an array of food decorations. Chocolate Pink pastries are
the creative passion of Pastry Chef Christian Balbierer, who is
delighted to present creative supplies for this tempting
activity. Tickets required.

Commercial Row - Saturday, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Tip Tap Two Dancers, a thrilling
improvisational tap dancing team, consists of Atlanta dance
teachers Terence “Taps” and Tre McClendon, beloved of Young
Audiences, Woodruff Center. One Saturday show only.

p.m. to 1 p.m.

Talented youth and teen musicians
and singers from Eclectic Music School perform a broad
repertoire. Expect guitar, singer / songwriters, keyboard, drums
and more!

Kids explore art-making with a
variety of media in a collaborative experience. Choose one or
all including a Giant Spider Web, Giant Canvas for Painting
(with supplies provided by Utrecht) and a Sidewalk Chalk Mural.

Hang your personalized peach on
Peachtree Street! Each little one is invited to decorate and
personalize a peach cutout and then hang it on a “Peachtree.”

In about three minutes, Mark
Mandel of Bighead Cartoons creates a caricature for you to take
home! Tickets required.

Peachtree Grove - Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Ooh! Aah! Entertainer
extraordinaire Aaron Antonich juggles, performs on unicycle, and
shows off on stilts. Limited hours.

Peachtree Grove - Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Hairstyles for kids from BeDazzle-Do. Zany
hair that’s fun to wear! Each design uses lots of razzle-dazzle
colorful accessories to make it fun, spunky, and unique. Tickets
required.

Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Makeup artist Maria Laguardia paints a
fantasy face with butterflies, flowers, an animal, a princess, a
superhero, a monster—whatever you like! Tickets required.

Lower Lawn -
Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Young ones can let loose in a traditional bounce
house. Tickets required. See ticket concession for upper age
limits.

Front Porch -
Saturday, 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The Hayiya Percussion Dance Ensemble
explores West African and Diaspora dance, song, and percussion.
Hayiya's signature acrobatics, lifts, and immeasurable energy
call out to your spirit to "Get On Your Feet and Dance!"

Grady Thrasher with Elaine Hearn Rabon
Author and Illustrator
of Tim and Sally’s Year in Poems (ages 4-8)
Tim and Sally have
taken their readers along for beach adventures and fun in the
garden. Now, the young siblings are leading readers on a romp
through the seasons. Tim and Sally’s Year in Poems follows this
winsome twosome throughout a full calendar year, with holidays
and seasons represented in lilting poems for early readers.
Grady Thrasher is a children’s book author and retired attorney
from Athens, GA. The author of Tim and Sally’s Vegetable
Garden and Tim and Sally’s Beach Adventure, Thrasher was given
the 2008 Georgia Author of the Year Award for Picture Books by
the Georgia Writers Association.
Elaine Hearn Rabon is a free-lance artist in Athens, GA where
she has enjoyed sketching the antics of children and animals for
more than 30 years. Rabon has illustrated all three of the Tim
and Sally books.

Angela Farris Watkins
My Uncle Martin’s Big Heart (ages
4-8)
With an emphasis on family togetherness, the importance
of community involvement and a lesson in the ethics of love, My
Uncle Martin’s Big Heart provides a unique glimpse into the
private life of Martin Luther King Jr., while telling a
universal story of love and hope.
Angela Farris Watkins is the niece of Martin Luther King Jr. She
is an associate professor of psychology at Spelman College and
lives in Atlanta, GA.

Laurel Snyder
Baxter, the Pig Who Wanted to Be
Kosher (ages 4-8)
In a book sure to bring smiles to the faces
of anyone who reads it, Baxter, the Pig Who Wanted to Be
Kosher introduces readers to a plucky pig protagonist in a
misguided quest to become kosher. Readers will cheer as a series
of misunderstandings leads to a warm message of welcome and
community.
Laurel Snyder is the author of Any Which Wall, Up
and Down the Scratchy Mountains, and Inside the Slidy Diner. In
addition to her books for children, Snyder has written two books
of poems and edited an anthology of nonfiction called HalfLife:
Jew-ish Tales from Interfaith Homes and is considered an expert
on Jewish literature for children.

Anne Ginkel
I’ve Got an Elephant (ages 4-8)
A
busy little girl’s loyal pachyderms fight loneliness each time
she leaves the house by simply adding another friend to their
growing numbers. Soon the house is filled with elephants
engaging in tail-to-trunk carefree play, until the resourceful
heroine has had enough and finds her companions a new home.
Anne Ginkel is a former teacher in the United States and
England. Her muse for I’ve Got an Elephant came from a
well-worn, stuffed elephant named Ellie that belonged to her
daughter. For many years, Ginkel owned Hobbit Hall Children's
Bookstore.

Micah Turpeau is a
local singer and songwriter who attends Grady High School. She
thoroughly enjoys writing songs on her piano and sharing her
music with the public.

Fox Theatre Rising Stars comprises a cast
of talented and accomplished young participants, ages 13 to 17.
The group performs songs by Kander and Ebb from such treasured
musicals as Chicago and Cabaret.

Sunday, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Originally formed in 2009, Act Thirt33n
has performed at venues and events such as Taste of Atlanta,
Taste of Alpharetta, Hard Rock Café in Atlanta, and the
Southeastern Regional Water Skiing Championship. Band members
are Morgan Carney, age 17—lead vocals; Andy Morgan, age
16—rhythm guitar/bass; Alec Ragsdale, age 15—lead guitar/bass;
and Michael Torres, age 9—drums. Their blend of ages and musical
tastes produces a performance that everyone can enjoy.
